I’m sure that by now, many of the fellow bloggers, and as well as non-bloggers would have heard the news about a blogger being arrested for posting racially-offensive content on his blog.
When I first saw the article few days ago, I was like, “Not again!” and a handful of bloggers question why our blogger queen never kena. If my memory doesn’t fail me, technically, she didn’t insult the “group” of people. It was what they did that disgusted her and I believe calling them molesters when they actually did, is nothing racist, right? And I think there weren’t any blatant, crude or fabricated insults.
Anyway, that’s not the main point of this entry.
So… Though the news is taunting and scary, I didn’t really care who was the man who kena. The most I did, was to self remind that I should exercise more caution when writing sensitive issues.
Fast forward to a few minutes ago, I was surfing Ping.sg when I saw this:

Hmmmm, Fragrance Prince? Sounds familiar leh, which I quickly recalled to be a friend’s friend. In Friendster’s term, a 2nd degree friend?
I’ve even bookmarked his blog before!

Sorry I’d to blur off the rest of the list, I don’t wanna let you guys know who I secretly stalk! Haha!
I was thinking, “Wah! Cannot be lah!”
But in fact, it was really THE “Fragrance Prince” that was caught. The seriousness of this issue suddenly hit me like a pointblank shotgun in the face.
After a quick read through on Simply Jean’s entry on the case, I realised how he went very wrong with his words.
Quoted from her entry, which excerpted from http://fragranceprince.blogspot.com:(one of the paragraph in his original blog post)
Aiya….stupid MALAYS!! Even if you are a Malay and am reading this… good for you..coz this is my personal blog and i can say what i deem fit…. if u wana defend yourself…. i suggest you arm youself with education and a motor mouth to compete against me.. else dont bother… coz i will bet my life on the line that, should you challenge me in a conversation… you will lose like what a true malay would…. LIKE **** !!!GET LOST!!
Fragrance Prince, or Franco, definitely went too far on the part about freedom of speech. I wanted to post his picture here, but I thought that wouldn’t be very nice. So yeah.
In any case, I really hope he’s okay now and learnt his lesson.
Political issues – you might be able to get over with it, but Racism is a big NO NO to all Singaporean bloggers.
People, be smart. If you HAVE TO write something, analyzed every single word and sentence of your blog post if you think it’s gonna be political, racism or whatnot. Make sure one sentence is backed up by another. Gather links from forums or blogs that shares the same view as you. In a nutshell, have something to back you up before you pull the trigger.
OR EVEN BETTER. Don’t write anything like that. You want entertaining blog posts? Go Youtube and search “funny videos”, it’s way less complicated that way.
On a separate note, sorry for the lack of updates that I’d promised. Been real busy cooking something up! Anyway, I’ve got a few entries to post up but I’ve got to finish editing the pictures and videos! Stay tuned!
