I’m sure most of you would have already watched the epic MTV of Lady Gaga’s song, Telephone. In case you haven’t, here’s the link for you to enjoy the nine and a half minutes of music video awesomeness.

But of cos, if my blog entry is solely to introduce the video, it would be pointless. I writing this to show you something that would totally mindfuck you.

…So, just as you are halfway into the video, you can’t stop yourself from going gaga over Gaga and Beyonce, and you reached this scene whereby shots of Beyonce in the bedroom is fading in and out…

OH WAIT PAUSE AT 6:29!!!

Advertorial

Not sure if any of you has seen this “advertisement”, but it has one of the coolest concept IMHO.

Youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIeLvfgsLWM

The initial message anyone would get from this video, would be the cons of tattooing. The entire video has nothing but how tattoos can seemingly ruin your life.

But if you’re witty enough, you’ll quickly come to realise that it is actually not a regular “public service announcement” ad.

“Wait a minute, why are these people with their bodies FULL of tattoo telling me not to do it?!” As ironic as it seems, it is the sarcasm, the oxymoronic scenes and the reverse psychology that worked the underlying tone of this “advertisement”.

It is, in fact, using the reverse psychology of our minds to promote and advertise this particular tattoo parlour in America. …it is also how the producers of this video managed to convince the tattoo artists to say those lines that could possibly trash their career.

I marvelled at the producer’s wit, and also, the human psychology!

Isn’t it sometimes strange and bewildering how the human mind works?
Wouldn’t it be cool if we could understand more about how does it function?
Or even to the extend of studying psychology?

The thought of becoming a psychologist is so cool. And I wouldn’t deny that there is an ubiquitous consent that a psychologist is one of the most respectable career around.

Lucky for me, PSB Academy contacted Nadia and I to check out their courses, and we had a closer look at the psychology-related ones!

If you haven’t heard of PSB Academy, it is actually one of the largest independent education and training institutions in Singapore. And having established since 1964, it has an established reputation and is recognised for its effective people-development solutions.

Of course, PSB Academy is partnered with The University of Western Australia, UWA, which belongs to the well-acclaimed Group of Eight, a collaboration of the top research universities in Australia. Talk about prestige!

So the psychology courses that they offer are:
- Bachelor of Science Psychology
- Bachelor of Science Psychology and Human Performance
- Graduate Diploma in Psychology

Nadia and I had the opportunity to sit in one of the classes and got to experience how is it like if we were to matriculate at PSB!

I must say, the tight ten-odd students per class really makes the lesson very productive and the facilities are well-equipped and very conducive for learning.

If you would like to experience it for yourself too, now is your chance! There will be a preview session conducted on 17 March by Professor David Morrision, Head, school of Psychology, UWA. Click this link for more info!

Having inspired by our psychology class, Nadia and I decided to do our take on the perpetual question of “what women really want?” – in the psychology (tongue-in-cheek) way of course!
