hen I was very young, I used to enjoy Chinese New Year a lot. But as soon as the rebellious teen years came, and being an introvert (still am, but suppressing), I became very anti-social and hated this particular festivity whereby I would have to force myself to nice and friendly to the relatives that I wasn’t even sure how I was related to them.
Well, but now, gone are the awkward days I struggle to talk to my relatives. I began to reconnect with them in recent years, even though most of us only see each other once a year.
And in this year, I witnessed how funky they actually are.

Who would have thought uncles and aunties in their 50s will pose with funny expressions when being pointed by a fisheye lens?
However, there is an ubiquitous sense that CNY is losing the fun in its festivity, though the tradition still carries on each year.

Seeing the relatives wither with age can be a painful thing too, but I’m thankful us the young generation grew up fine.

Not sure who brought up the idea of taking group photo, but we started taking almost-complete group photo since last year!
This is 2009:

And this is 2010!

Oh wow, Anthony (2nd from bottom right) is wearing the SAME SHIRT he wore in 2009! HAHAHA!!! What happened to the tradition of new year, new clothes?!
Anyway, I hope the numbers keep growing and eventually we’ll have a complete one! I’m sure Grandpa and Grandma will be very glad looking upon this big family, in heaven.
On a random note, my cousin, Shiru, and I look REALLY alike.

I think we could pass off as twins!!! It is kinda amusing as we’re not directly blood-related! Our mothers are sisters, so our “facial genes” probably got passed down by them!

On an even more random note, we have a winner for the best fisheye photo!
