I think of the most warped theories all the time, and after watching Inception, it pushed me further to think of all the different kinds of reality there might be in this world, fiction or not.

And under the influence of the very funny Annoying Orange, I begin to think what would happen if potatoes were given eyes and mouths, and for that matter, lives of their own!

Well, if you would allow me to take you on a ride of wild imagination, I personally feel that each and every potato will have a “dream” of how they will eventually become on human’s table.

It is not sadistic, of cos! It will be like as though it is their ultimate calling or goal in life to be consumed by humans and be highly praised that they are delicious!

Every potato will aim to be the cream of the crop, the best, and the first class of all potatoes!

Say, some will want to be in a curry dish served in a fining dining atmosphere, others yearn to be some kind of premium French fries, and many would want to become everybody’s favorite tidbit – potato chips!

.
.
.

But I realized there isn’t really a hierarchy of potato chips, is there? Potato chips, are just potato chips, no?

Well, I was soooooo wrong!

Look at what this quirky fella has to say about his potato chips!

I’m amazed by the detailed and intricate the preparation process of Mister Potato’s chips!

If you were to ask me, I believe this is where all the potatoes would dream to be! It’s like the first class of all potato chips!

My favourite is the Hot & Spicy! What’s yours?

Those of you who have been following my blog will know that I’m a fan of Puma!

And this time round, Puma has an amazing campaign going on in-conjunction with the World Cup!

“Love = Football”
Singapore’s top local and international footballing talents including the likes of Singapore Lions Lionel Lewis, Hassan Sunny, Isa Halim, Shi Jiayi and Etoile FC stars Frederic Mendy and Loic Leclercq will be the brand’s sports performance and lifestyle ambassadors for 2010.

And the ambassadors’ first assignment will be as members of the unique AMUP Tribe which seeks to extend the message that love equals the world game of football.

AMUP Tribe is calling for members in a unique football celebration, the ‘Tribunal’ that does not need talent or even skill that will be held on 12th and 13th June 2010 at Ion Orchard.

PUMA will be showcasing it’s never before seen Autumn Winter 2010 collection with the ambassadors making a special appearance. A special meet and greet session will be held at the tribunal grounds where you guys can meet them in person!

In a call to action for the Tribunal, a tribal march pass involving all the PUMA ambassadors down Orchard Road will happen on 5th June to rally ‘tribe members’

Entries for the ‘Tribunal’ football competition are now open either online or at any PUMA retail outlet. The Tribunal seeks to attract footballers of all shapes and sizes in a fun and friendly gathering for the ‘love of football’

Being as ingenious as they always are, PUMA is now embracing social media and technology by using the geosocial networking application, Foursquare, to bring people closer to the brand!

PUMA is urging everyone to spread the love this World Cup season with its “Love=Football” campaign and is extending that into the virtual realm with Foursquare by rewarding its users with premiums available exclusively during the month of June.

Simply check in at selected PUMA outlets at Vivocity and Ngee Ann City and create a “tip” for others to read! The tip has to show why you ‘love’ that particular outlet. Show the Foursquare app to the cashier and win a selected premium!

How easy is that!

Last week, omy brought a few of us bloggers to Pixar: 20 Years in Animation!

The extensive exhibition mostly covers the back story of Pixar – how the movies are conceived, what goes on behind the final polished products we see on the big screens. It’s like an animation artist’s dream come true.

I must say that I’m very impressed with Science Centre‘s constant effort to organise and bring in such awesome exhibitions. And I’m also very honored that A/Professor Lim Tit Meng, CEO of Science Centre, was there in person to welcome us.

There are two highlights within the exhibition that are so awesome, you’ll have to be there yourself to witness the magic.

First up, the Zoetrope. If you are like me, who had learnt about zoetropes before, you would expect it to be something like the photo on its Wikipedia page. Little did I expect Pixar’s version to be this mind-boggling 3D illusion!

Here’s a little preview of how it looks in real:

The still figurines appear to have a life of their own! Trust me, you would want to see it for yourself. While at the exhibition, I actually went back to the zoetrope a few times just to look at how awesome it is.

The second highlight is the Artscape. And once again, it is impossible to show you the beauty of watching it live at the exhibition.

The elongated screen is projected by four projectors, and the visual being so huge, it makes the audience feel like they are part of the 11-minute animation. Together with the surrounding audio, it is an experience that the Pixar guys described as “what it feels like to be part of Pixar”.

I’m also very fascinated by the artworks, sketches and the preparatory works that are being showcased.

The colourscript for Monsters, Inc.

The storyboard of the hilarious Pixar short, For the Birds.

Detailed studies for A Bug’s Life – My favourite Pixar movie!

“Movement studies” of Boo, the little girl from Monsters, Inc.!

And of course, photography is not allowed. We were granted special permission under “credentialed media”.

As a form of respect to the artists, I tried to take as little photos as possible too. These that appeared on my blog are just a few out of the 500 over sketches, paintings, sculptures and digital installations.

Random camwhore photos to end the blog entry with! Anyhoo, the exhibition only until 27 June and it’s the last stop in Asia, so don’t miss it! Highly recommended if you’re a Pixar fan, or a budding animator/creative!

Sponsored Movie Review

I was worrying at first if it would have a heavy storyline like some other sappy romance films, but I was proven wrong by the characters that are easy to connect, and the melodramatic story that is somewhat predictable but convincing enough to let you relate to the characters.

It was definitely a feel-good movie, but little did I expect it to be a tearjerker too. It also has funny moments that cracks you up!

The movie centers on a troubled teenage girl, Ronnie, who is pretty much bitter about every other thing in her life. But underneath the emo look, she is a very smart and kind-hearted girl and a piano prodigy who stopped playing out of spite.

Along with her animated little brother, they were sent to stay with her divorced (hence the spite) father for the summer where she meets this dreamy stud and falls in love with.

I especially liked how Ronnie changed from this angsty teenage girl to slowly opening up to her father and eventually reconnecting with him before everything becomes too late.

I think I actually became a fan of Miley Cyrus after seeing how she is able to portray this character that is a total opposite of what we known her as. This edgy role lets us see how versatile she can be.

Apart from Miley, I’m also very impressed with Bobby Coleman’s – who played Ronnie’s little brother – acting. In the second half of the movie when the drama picks up, this little boy will be able to touch your heart and make you tear with him.

This romance movie is a definitely must-watch for all those teenage girls (or even cougars), judging from the giggles whenever the local hunk (Liam Hemsworth) in story appears onscreen – topless or not. Even him putting down a chair to sit beside Ronnie made the crowd chuckled effortlessly.

Oh, the music played a good role in the emotional scenes. And I liked the take-home message: “Everybody makes mistakes. Even the ones we love.”

Do catch in the cinemas soon! Btw, I’ve “liked” Disney Studio Singapore Facebook page, have you? http://pea.to/dtls
