ello my name is Jayden and I blog at jayleif.com …JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN WHO AM I! HAHAHA
Not sure if I can call it “the writer’s block”, but I sat down at my table for 30 minutes just to write that first line! Have I lost that blogging touch already??? *sad face
Anyway, 2011 has been quite a ride and I don’t exactly have a life now that I am swarmed with work. And to my surprise, I actually managed to squeeze time out to take part in this LoBlography challenge!
To cut the story short, Lomography shortlisted 20 bloggers to play with one of their latest plastic analogue cameras – the La Sardina (which is that sardine can camera that I’ve been raving about ever since its launch!). The challenge is to get our blog post as much attention as possible and the carrot is the cameras we will stand a chance to win!
I’m really excited about this – not that I am gearing to win anything (Lomo LC-A+ for the entry with most likes & comments; La Sardina for the most creative entry) – as I can finally get my hands on this funky-looking camera and experiment with more rolls of film!
Well, truth be told, I’m getting bored of my Diana F+!
Okay shut up and show us the photos already!!

#1 — If you think this is photoshopped, then you’re oh-so-very-wrong! I’ve been experimenting with double exposures for some time now, and this “effect” is executed using that technique!
The fact that La Sardina has a built-in “MX” (multiple exposure) function, this could not have been any easier to shoot! In case you are wondering, the chinese characters mean “Sardine”! ![]()

#2 — I had taken the silhouette of the trees and wanted to overlay with something colourful in the second exposure. Those recycling bins came in handy for the shot! If you take a closer look at the yellow bin, it says “cans” …and I am shooting with a WHAT-looking camera? …SARDINE…… ….CAN??? GOT IT??? HAHA! How apt right?!

#3 — Fabian was my company for the shoot at Chinese Garden!

#4 — The text “FISHY” was exposed for too short! But nevertheless, you get what I’m trying to get at riiiight?
Anyhoo, I’ll do up a tutorial on this double exposure technique when I have the time, but if you can’t wait, GOOGLE IS ALWAYS YOUR BEST FRIEND!

#5 — Although this shot came out exactly what I had in mind, it is lacking in something that I cannot describe. YOU TELL ME!

#6 — Probably the only “normal” shot that has not been exposed more than once!
Chanced upon this photo opportunity on the way out of Chinese Garden and I couldn’t leave them alone. What a quaint sight to see this angmoh tourist sitting on the bench, chatting away with the foreign workers – right here in Singapore! It’s like the epitome of ROJAKNESS!

#7 — If I have to name a “prize shot”, this has to be it! It is heavily inspired by Dan Mountford and it is a nice pat on my back that I manage to recreate the effect very closely on the first try! …MEANS THERE ARE MORE TO COME BELOW!

#8 — It is supposedly a shot of a chinese opera set, but I had totally overestimated the film’s ability to shoot at night. But I still quite fancy the result of the triple exposure! YES, TRIPLE. Exposure in an exposure in an exposure. EXPOSURECEPTION.

#9, #10, #11 — Did I mention more Dan Mountford-esque photos to come??

#12 — Because I’m unlucky like that, I didn’t get to play with the La Sardina that comes with its own unique flash unit called “Fritz the Blitz”. But I’m…… NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP, NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN!!! *oops, sorry for rickrolling LOLOL
I wanted to see what my own Diana F+ flash can do, and voila~ it did not disappoint me! Love the how the filter colours came out!
AND THEN THE CAMWHORE GOT THE BETTER OF ME :

BOO YA! Sorry, Halloween came early!
Okay, I know it has been a looooooong post, but please bear with me as I tell you a quick story! I have always loved what Lomography has done, the communities that it forms are amazing. It’s a bit like music – it has no boundaries! So what I am about to share with you has made me believe in Lomography even more.
So I posted up a photo of the La Sardina on Instagram:

A week later, and a Spanish girl commented on the photo, telling me that she’s that girl on the box!

Of the 4 different colours of the La Sardina, I got the Marathon (green) with that specific packaging, AND of all the photos that Lucy could have commented on! What are the odds of people from two very different parts of the world talk to each other via such a curious connection? Lucy and I are now talking about a possible chance of a lomography collaboration! I’m sure it’ll be so fun!
OKAY BACK TO BUSINESS, if you like what you’ve read, do help me like or comment on this blog entry and share it on Facebook! THE SOCIAL MEDIA BUTTONS ARE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THIS BLOG ENTRY! Help me spread the love and I’ll be giving away 10 Lomography members 10 piggy points each! The deadline is only 4 days away! This Sunday, 16 October!
